About
Delivereasy is a New Zealand-owned delivery service that faced a pivotal moment when the pandemic sent demand for contactless ordering skyrocketing. While their couriers were a familiar sight on the streets in orange and black, their digital presence was a disconnected mix of teal and white. Our brief was to seize this growth by completely reimagining their user experience, creating a brand that felt as energetic and reliable as their real-world fleet while helping them stand out against global competitors entering the local market.
My role was to translate this physical energy into a cohesive digital system. We ditched the teal for a high-vis palette of bright orange, white, and black, which immediately improved accessibility and brand recognition. To bring much-needed rigour to the interface, I replaced a cluttered mix of three different fonts with Geograph from Klim Type Foundry, creating a singular, geometric voice across the app and website. Working on a tight schedule to meet lockdown demands, I focused on building a flexible component library and a streamlined set of templates for browsing and ordering. This system was designed specifically for Flutter, allowing the Delivereasy in-house team to deploy a consistent experience across both web and mobile from a single codebase. We validated every flow through rigorous testing on real devices, ensuring features like dietary labels and delivery instructions were front and centre.
The result is a punchy, performance-driven platform that has simplified the journey for thousands of hungry Kiwis. Since the relaunch, the brand has found its feet with a visual identity that finally matches its physical presence. The feedback from both the street and the boardroom has been stellar; users have praised the intuitive new look, and the CTO noted that customers are now finding and ordering food faster and with more confidence than ever before. By bridging the gap between the courier on the scooter and the app in the pocket, we’ve built a design system that isn’t just a facelift—it’s a scalable engine for Delivereasy’s continued evolution.
