Redesigning your own agency’s site is notoriously one of the hardest design tasks. Phantom is a global studio with a massive breadth of creative output, and as we continued to push boundaries, our old digital home simply no longer felt right. We set ourselves a soul-searching brief: to build a shape-shifting vessel that captures our experimental spirit and showcases the sheer scale of our digital work in a way that feels as kinetic and alive as the studio itself.
Subverting conventional agency formulas, we anchored our visual approach in 'invisible forces'—the unseen energies and constant motion that drive our creativity. My role involved translating this abstract concept into a living, immersive digital space. We designed a dynamic, interactive grid that opens with our 'Phantom Dude' logo, which we reimagined as a constantly morphing entity that generates endless AI variations. To ensure the experience felt premium and fluid, we built a robust grid and type system to ensure information felt ordered and intentional. While early prototyping showed that displaying such a vast amount of high-quality motion content would be a challenge, I collaborated closely with our technical team to ensure our design vision remained uncompromised. We focused on a sophisticated layout that prioritises discovery, using layering and custom visual effects to keep the interface feeling light and responsive despite the depth of the work on display.
The result is a mesmerising, constantly changing digital world that beautifully brings our creative capabilities to life. It is an infinitely variable platform that encapsulates our M.O., moving away from a static portfolio toward a truly expressive environment. By focusing on the harmony between bold brand elements and an intuitive, exploratory user journey, we’ve created a site that doesn’t just show what we do—it feels like who we are.
